SymKey 4.2: What Changed and Why It Matters

SymKey 4.2 is now available for all HCIM clients. This release focuses on four areas that our clients have consistently identified as priorities: easier query creation, self-service reporting, a cleaner user experience, and better performance.

Here’s what changed and why it matters for your team.

## Query Library

Building queries in SymKey has always been powerful, but it required expertise. The new Query Library provides a curated collection of predefined queries that teams can browse, customize, and deploy without building everything from scratch.

This is especially useful for teams where one or two analysts have been the bottleneck for all query work. Now, a broader set of users can find a relevant starting point, modify it for their needs, and run it, without needing deep SQL knowledge.

## Self-Service Report Scheduling

Previously, scheduling recurring reports required a support request to the HCIM team. In 4.2, clients can schedule, view, edit, and manage report schedules directly in SymKey Manager. This means faster turnaround on reporting changes and less dependency on external support for routine scheduling.

## Modernized User Interface

The SymKey Manager UI has been redesigned for better readability, easier navigation, and fewer friction points. The changes are evolutionary, not revolutionary. Existing users will find everything where they expect it, but with a cleaner layout and more consistent interactions.

## Performance and Stability

Under-the-hood improvements support faster load times, more reliable query execution, and continued scalability. These aren’t flashy features, but they’re the kind of improvements that make the daily experience noticeably smoother.

## Getting Started

SymKey 4.2 is fully compatible with every version of CAPS our clients use. No client-side configuration changes are required, and the upgrade is included at no additional charge. Your Client Success Manager will coordinate timing with you.

We recommend three things to try first: browse the Query Library and identify 2-3 queries your team can use right away, review your current report scheduling needs, and have a regular user walk through the updated UI.
